Footballer Christian Eriksen is conscious and “doing well” after collapsing during a friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine.
The former Tottenham and Man United player was seen putting his hand to his chest in the 65th minute of the international friendly at Nature Energy Park in Odense, Denmark, before he fell to the ground.
The Danish Football Association later said Erikson was conscious and “feeling well under the circumstances” as the game was abandoned.
Eriksen previously suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the pitch during Denmark’s opening European Championship group game against Finland in 2021.
The Danish team’s doctor, Morten Boesen, said on Sunday Eriksen had been briefly unconscious, but “regained consciousness very quickly” and was able to walk off the pitch by himself.
He said Eriksen’s pacemaker, which was fitted after his previous collapse, appeared to be “functioning as it should”.

“He briefly lost consciousness but regained it very quickly, and we were able to communicate with him right away,” Boesen said.
“He will now undergo further examination at the hospital to determine what caused the incident. We are in constant contact with him and the doctors at the hospital.
“But Christian is doing well, and he asked me to say hello to all the players and let them know he’s okay.”
At the time several medics had to work quickly to give Eriksen chest compressions, while his teammates formed a circle around him to shield the scene from public view.
He gained consciousness and was later taken to a Copenhagen hospital.
Neither Denmark nor Ukraine have qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
