Sweet Magnolias season five has landed, ushering in some fresh faces.
It’s been over a year since Netflix viewers last dropped by Serenity, but at long last, the wait has ended as Sweet Magnolias made its comeback for series five today, Thursday, June 11.
As ever, there’s no shortage of drama to occupy these small-town inhabitants, from ambitious new commercial endeavours to romantic complications.
So who will be appearing in this latest instalment and who won’t be returning to Serenity?

Inside Sweet Magnolias season 5 cast
Naturally, Sweet Magnolias wouldn’t be complete without the three Magnolias at its heart: Maddie (played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley) and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott).
While Maddie finds herself wrapped up in her thrilling new position in New York, Helen has nuptials to organise and Dana Sue faces matrimonial troubles to navigate.

The threesome will be accompanied once more by Maddie’s husband Cal (Justin Bruening), Helen’s fiancé Erik (Dion Johnstone) and Dana Sue’s husband Ronnie (Brandon Quinn).

They’ve also got plenty on their plates in season five, with Cal occupied managing the household while Maddie’s in New York, Erik confronting personal obstacles before the wedding and Ronnie concentrating on getting his new enterprise off the ground.
Meanwhile, Kyle (Logan Allen) and Lily (Artemis) are preparing for a Shakespearean production and Isaac (Chris Medlin) is hoping to wow his new boyfriend Michael (Kyle Findley) with a grand gesture.
Dana Sue’s daughter Annie (Annaliese Judge) will be seeking a fresh chapter in this series following her break up with Ty (Carson Rowland), as she prepares to embark on her college journey.
Other returning cast members include Jamie-Lynn Spears as Noreen, Chase Anderson as Jeremy and Brittany L Smith as Mayor Peggy Martin.

Sadly, fan-favourite Ty Townsend, played by actor Carson Rowland, will not be reprising his role in Sweet Magnolias season five.
During the closing episodes of the fourth series, Ty departed Serenity to chase his dreams of performing on stage as part of a European tour with his band.
Who will be joining Sweet Magnolias season 5?
Nell Winters – Jamie-Lynn Sigler

Jamie-Lynn Sigler is best known for her role as Meadow Soprano in the iconic HBO drama The Sopranos, subsequently going on to appear in other productions such as Entourage and Big Sky.
She will be taking on the role of acclaimed writer Nell Winters, who strikes up a friendship with Maddie.
Courtney Sinclair – Courtney Grace

As Ronnie looks to grow his new business venture, he calls upon the expertise of his “hard-charging” new business partner Courtney Sinclair.
She is portrayed by actress Courtney Grace, whose credits include Disclosure Day, Still Hope, Beyond the Gates, as well as an appearance in Stranger Things as a nurse.
Clark Bellson – John Gabriel Rodriquez

Actor John Gabriel-Rodriquez may be familiar to audiences from his appearances in The Vampire Diaries, SWAT and The Divergent Series: Allegiant.
He plays rival business owner Clark Bellson, whose presence is set to cause headaches for the Magnolias.
Jessica Whitley – Iman Benson

Erik Whitley’s niece Jessica Whitley arrives bearing some unexpected news for both him and Helen.
The role is taken on by actress Iman Benson, previously seen in Alexa & Katie, BlackAF, The Midnight Club and Uncle Buck.
Noah Wharton – Aidan Merwarth

Actor Aidan Merwarth steps into the role of the Whartons’ grandson, Noah Wharton.
He is a relative newcomer to the industry, with a handful of minor appearances in series including Crazy Fast, NCIS, Unprisoned, SEAL Team and Stick.
Blake Monaghan – Austin Woods

Actor Austin Woods has notched up small parts in productions such as 9-1-1: Nashville, Average Joe, American Horror Stories and This Is Us.
He takes on the role of Blake Monaghan, and both he and Noah will find themselves vying for the attention of one of the Mini Magnolias.
