TODAY star Sheinelle Jones has admitted that she can’t stop crying on her first birthday after her husband Uche Ojeh’s tragic death.
Sheinelle‘s husband Uche Ojeh passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 45, following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Sheinelle has now celebrated her first birthday without her husband by her side.
The daytime television star celebrated her 48th birthday on April 19.
Taking to Instagram to mark her big day, Sheinelle uploaded a slew of photographs and videos.
Alongside the offerings, she penned: “Hi everyone. As I literally sit here – in tears – on an airplane headed home, I think it’s the perfect moment to check in with you.
“Today is my 48th birthday, and to be honest- I can’t stop crying.”
She added: “Thankful tears, painful tears because it’s my first without Uche, and tears full of gratitude reflecting on the last 7 days.
“I have never felt so much love in my life. Thank you for the prayers and support over the last year.
“I don’t have the words to express how it feels to have SOLD OUT crowds in every city … and what it feels like to take these group photos with your smiling faces.”
Sheinelle concluded her caption by writing: “Uche loved The Beatles; as I mark the beginning of 48 – I do .. feel the sun. Thank you so so much.”
Fans flocked to the comments to wish Sheinelle a happy birthday.
“You are such a bright light for so many. Well deserved, Sheinelle. Happiest of birthdays,” penned one person.
“Happy birthday Sheinelle! You are a beautiful soul,” said another.
“You are a true inspiration!! Have a wonderful birthday,” penned a third.
While a fourth wrote: “Uche is smiling down on you, proud as hell.”
And a fifth said: “Well you have to figure out how to stop crying so we can stop crying with you!”
Savannah Guthrie announced Uche’s passing last May on Today.
Speaking to viewers while choking back tears, Savannah said: “With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and Today co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma.
“There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children.
“Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him.
“And so we want to take a moment to tell you more about the remarkable man who was Sheinelle’s perfect partner in life.”
The show then shared a heartfelt photo montage of the couple and recapped Sheinelle and Uche’s incredible love story.
