Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill‘s rendition of “How Great Thou Art” is simply unforgettable.
The fellow Oklahoma natives and Grand Ole Opry members have collaborated several times before. Whenever they do, the result is nothing short of amazing.
But their 2011 performance of the classic hymn “How Great Thou Art” may be their best duet ever. People still reference their performance when asked to name the greatest collaboration in country music history.

Gill and Underwood took to the stage together during the ACM’s Girls’ Night Out: Superstar Women of Country special. Before they started singing, Underwood recognized her fellow female artists, then thanked Gill for performing with her.
“Thank you so much for sharing this very special night with me, it means a lot,” she said.
What happened next was definitely a special moment.

Underwood started off singing softly on her own, while Gill played guitar beside her. As the song continued, the notes grew higher and Underwood’s voice grew louder, before Gill joined in and contributed some powerful harmonies.
Gill gave Underwood a chance to rest in the middle of the song while he played a moving guitar solo. Once she caught her breath, she sang each note with a chill-inducing sense of intensity.
The entire crowd was on their feet, cheering and clapping, long before the song ended. Many attendees had tears in their eyes.
