She’s straight through to the semi-finals!
On tonight’s (April 29) episode of Britain’s Got Talent, they really did save the best for last as we saw judge Amanda Holden personally invite 11-year-old Olivia Lynes to audition for them.
Amanda surprised Olivia, who was waiting to see Matilda the Musical at the theatre, after her mum had been in touch with Britain’s Got Talent and shared Olivia’s audition tapes with them.
At the audition, Olivia admitted feeling “a bit nervous” before she sang the popular ‘Defying Gravity’ from the musical Wicked.
The judges were blown away by her confident performance and Amanda Holden didn’t hesitate to hit the Golden Buzzer before rushing to the stage to embrace Olivia. Bruno Tonioli was in tears and the other judges were suitably impressed too.
Simon Cowell, who is known for being a bit harder to impress on the show, was full of praise for “perfect, perfect, perfect” Olivia.
The audience were all cheering for the little girl too.
Behind the scenes, Olivia’s singing had Ant and Dec in bits too as an emotional Dec was seen saying: “Too cute. Too cute.”
Last week, one of the standout performances came from the hilarious ‘naked’ model Japanese jokester Tonikaku Akarui Yasumura who posed in various ways while implying he was naked. His catchphrase became: “I’m wearing pants!”
Cowell said, in an interview with Digital Spy that there may be a point where audiences can select Golden Buzzer moments.
“I don’t want to give too much away,” he said. “[But] there is one Golden Buzzer moment – it wasn’t really supposed to happen because we’d run out and it was kind of chaotic at this moment because the audience really did not let this go.
“I thought, they’re not going to leave. So, we kind of said: ‘Why don’t we just give the audience a golden buzzer?’ and that’s what happened.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
