Scarlett Moffatt has spoken out in support of Adam Thomas after his emotional I’m A Celebrity… South Africa victory was overshadowed by explosive tensions in camp.

The Emmerdale star was crowned winner of ITV’s all-stars spin-off during last night’s (April 24) dramatic final, beating out his fellow campmates to be named the show’s Ultimate Legend. However, what should have been a celebratory moment for Adam was instead overshadowed by heated arguments and tense exchanges, leaving his victory clouded by controversy.

Speaking on I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked Live following the final, Scarlett and fellow campmates Ashley Roberts and Gemma Collins were quick to defend Adam and insisted he fully deserved his victory, despite the drama that unfolded around him.

Ashley shared her hopes that Adam would be able to properly take in the moment, saying: “I hope Adam enjoys it, I think he’s been through so much, and I just hope that he can take a second, because I feel like he doesn’t feel like he maybe deserves it because he’s won.”

And Scarlett immediately threw her support behind him, telling hosts Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers: “He does deserve it. It was hard in there, and he was amazing, and he was a friend to us all. It is really disheartening that he didn’t get to have that moment of glory.”

Scarlett’s view was also backed by Gemma, who became extremely close to Adam during filming, as she shared she had no doubts about the results, declaring: “The best man won!”

Gemma also spoke about how disappointing it was to see the series end on a sour note, saying: “It was positive, like what is such a shame about tonight, I’m just going to tell it how it is. We had such an amazing experience in there. We had a ball.”

Adam’s win followed a tense on-air exchange with Jimmy Bullard and David Haye, linked to an earlier disagreement in camp between Adam and the former footballer.

During a discussion about the past tensions, Jimmy revisited his decision to try to quit a Bushtucker Trial, claiming he believed he would be paid differently depending on how he left the show, which was why he attempted to “pull the plug”.

Reflecting on their fallout, Adam admitted he lost his temper and took “full responsibility” for how he reacted. However, he also made it clear there was no bad blood on his side, adding: “I’ve got nothing but love for Jimmy.”

Former boxer David then weighed in, telling Adam he had a “funny way of showing it”, prompting host Dec to point out that David hadn’t even been present during Adam and Jimmy’s original clash.
