Ben Shephard says his house move led to the “most heartbreaking thing” he has ever had to do. The 51-year-old has presented ITV One’s flagship show This Morning with Cat Deeley since 2024.
Last year Ben and his wife Annie reportedly splashed £3.5 million on a property that was previously a residence for a bishop. The Grade II-listed property is said to be located in an idyllic riverside setting in London, a short distance from his previous home.

The Shephard family home is located in Richmond, where Ben has been a long-term resident, an area that has regularly been named among the happiest places to live, says Rightmove. The family reportedly sold their former home for £5.3 million, the Daily Mail claimed.
Ben however says there has been one problem with the switch. Speaking to the Radio Times, he revealed he had to leave his beloved television behind.
He said: “We have a pretty average-sized TV – I had to leave my massive 75in telly behind when we moved house as we didn’t have space for it. That was one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever had to do.”
Ben’s home was built in the 18th century and reportedly covers around 6,000 square feet. It covers two floors and is said to boast a three-bedroom annexe.

According to The Standard it has a double-fronted facade, a garden that wraps around three sides of the building and high ceilings. Inside it is said to boast fireplaces, sash windows, and wooden floorboards.
Previous reports suggest the house hadn’t sold for three hundred years before being purchased by Ben. It was described as a chance to create a “truly unique and impressive family home”.
Elsewhere Ben recently opened up about his marriage to Annie. The Tipping Point star revealed his wife of 20 years occasionally asks him for a “bit of space” at times.
It came as he said the couple, who share sons Sam, 21 and Jack, 19, together, find themselves living “separate lives” at times. Ben explains his wife is “much happier in her own company” and isn’t interested in the showbiz side of his life.
Speaking to Daily Mail’s weekend magazine, Ben shared: “Annie is much more solitary than me. She’s much happier in her own company. Half the time she’s like, ‘I need a bit of space. Can you leave me alone for five seconds, please?’”
The couple however could soon find themselves spending more time together as they prepare to be “empty-nesters”. Jack is currently working as a teaching assistant before going travelling, while Sam is studying mathematics at university.
Ben said: “They make such a mess and eat everything when they’re in the house, but when they’re not there you go, “Oh, what are we going to talk about now?””
With the house already becoming a bit quieter, Ben shared: “We do live quite separate lives. I’m off working, she has her job, which is garden and interior design. If I’ve got spare time I want to do something physical.”
While he enjoys running and playing golf, he says Annie is happier looking around a garden or visiting an art gallery.
